Yesterday we welcomed Wellington artist Sian Torrington, who is in town putting together a site-specific sculpture as part of our Outer Spaces programme. How you have held things will be created from a rich variety of salvaged materials, painted, bound, stacked and otherwise altered by Sian and installed on a previously vacant site in Avonside. The first elements to be unwrapped were three stunning, 'in-progress' chandeliers, looking like extremely glamorous flotsam and jetsam in their supine state. They've got a little more titivation coming before they're complete (think gold glitter and sequins), but just now they are adding a very welcome splash of colour and texture to CAG's foyer.
