Behind the scenes

One of the good things (yes, surprisingly there are a few) about being closed is that staff are doing all kinds of interesting behind-the-scenes tasks.

Some things we may never have got around to, like sorting old exhibition files and digitising material to enhance our web site.

Lana Coles, Education and Public Programmes team leader, came across a letter from J.S.B. Munro, director of Hawke's Bay Art Gallery & Museum (Inc.), Napier, to Brian Muir, his counterpart in Christchurch, director of the then Robert McDougall Art Gallery.

Dated 11 May 1976, it reads:
