NZ Rox Pendants

Every one of these greywacke pebbles began its journey high in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and travelled for millions of years to where it was found - on the gemstone beach at Birdlings Flat.

The NZ Rox range of pendants displays the harmony that is possible between found object and technical intervention, with each piece remaining a wearable example of those elements that are native to natural New Zealand.

The purchase of these pendants helps fund the protection of Te Roto O Wairewa (Lake Forsythe) in partnership with the Wairewa Rünanga - the Kaitiaki (Guardians) of the Lake.

Size: approximately 1.9m x .5m

The raw fabric drop can be bought for $275.00.

At $375 it comes with a hanging mechanism which makes it simple to put up on your wall.

Tim Main coasters are $19.99 for a set of 6.

Weaving

Also special to this part of the world are the works made from local harakeke (flax).

A kete is a Maori basket, traditionally made of woven flax. The intricate art of weaving has been kept alive by older Maori women and is now enjoying a renewed popularity.

Featherweight

Simon Rutherford describes himself as "a potter with fibre". The Shop sells his "featherweights" - finely woven from local harakeke (flax), these delicate sculptures show this ancient craft in a contemporary light.

A chance meeting with a senior Maori woman in Northland introduced him to harakeke: "It was the beginning of me knowing I am a fibre artist and this was my fibre. But I'm not a Maori weaver - I'm a sculptor." He says his true teaching was from noted Ngai Tahu weaver Cath Brown.

From $39.95

With the right packaging from the Shop, these lovely works can be easily and safely posted.
