Lesson Two For all levels
This lesson explores the multitude of ways paint is applied to its support or surface.
Tour and workshop 2 hours
The selected works show the different ways artists use paint and brushstrokes to make their artwork. They range from the very controlled paintwork of the 18th and 19th century artists to the sweeping gestural brushstroke of painters such as Sir Toss Woollaston, the bold outlines of Rudolf Gopas and the textural paintwork of Neil Frazer.
The workspace activity takes one of the approaches observed in the Gallery and translates it into a work the subject of which is developed by the student.
