Introducing the Gallery
Lesson One For all levels
This lesson is intended as a first introduction for your students to their Art Museum and Collection.
Tour and workshop 2 hours
Students will take away an appreciation of the building and consider five or six works that cover a range of subjects, styles, media and purpose. No attempt is made to see everything but a selection will be made from our historical and contemporary painting, works on paper, sculpture, ceramics, glass and textiles collections.
Questions that arise from the visit include:
- Who chooses the art for the Collection?
- Why did they choose it?
- How do you organise which works are shown?
- How do you look after art?
