Twinset: Video Art in the Foyer
Twinset occupies the pair of big high-definition screens in the foyer which can be seen straight ahead when heading for the ground-floor galleries.
It's a rapid-fire programme of fresh video art by artists from Australia, Europe, USA and New Zealand.
The screens currently feature three videos made by Australian twins Gabriella and Silvana Mangano. Twoness and twinning lie at the heart of each work the twins make. The first of the videos is also the work that brought the Manganos to renown in Australia. Called if…so…then, it might be described as dance plus drawing times two. It is funny, tense, engrossing, complicated and beautifully simple. All you need, they suggest, is pen, paper and camera – and a little help from your double.
Artists previously seen on the twin screens have included Ronnie van Hout, Daniel Crooks, Jae Hoon Lee, Terry Urbahn, Sarah Jane Parton, Seung Yul Oh, Phil Dadson, Euan Macdonald, Daniel von Sturmer and Ariane Pauls.
