Legendary American photographer Ansel Adams' images of the natural world reveal a lifetime devoted to capturing its changing beauty. This exhibition presents a selection of photographs the artist considered his best.

Ansel Adams is best known for his magnificent landscapes that became icons of wild America, combining great vistas and microcosmic details with a synergy of vision and technical brilliance. This exhibition presents a selection of works chosen by Adams as the finest examples of his artistic achievement, including elegant details of nature, architectural studies and portraits, as well as his remarkable landscapes.

This exhibition is part of the Gallery's Season of Photography, celebrating two of the greatest twentieth century international photographers. An exclusive exhibition of celebrity portraits by photographer Cecil Beaton opens 26 May 2006.
