Event Highlights: 1 – 14 October

Welcome to Christchurch Art Gallery's eNewsletter. This fortnight sees the launch of the Body Festival in Christchurch, and the Gallery is holding a number of great events in association with this.

Why not come in and watch award-winning international dance films with The ReelDance Awards, before visiting the Move-Me Booth for the chance to make your own dance film.

Another key event at the Gallery this fortnight is Any Suggestions?, a unique music performance based entirely on audience feedback and comments that's sure to be an entertaining evening.

Enter the Move-Me Booth and follow instructions from some of the world's most innovative dance-makers. Create your own dance film and watch yourself online.

 

The ReelDance Awards

Body Festival Films: Kidreels

An international programme for 3–11 yr olds. Films from India, the Netherlands, the UK and New Zealand featuring children dancing in diverse cultural settings.

 

Contemporary Dance on Screen

Sat 4 and Sun 5 October
2pm, 110 mins, $7.50

A showcase of the best in international contemporary dance.

Musician Greg Malcolm has been gathering audience suggestions for ideas to create an irresistible customer-based performance. With feedback ranging from the absurd to the offensive, these suggestions will be performed by Malcolm, Reuben Derrick (saxophone), Mike Kime (bass), Chris O'Connor (drums), Matthew Ayton (visuals) and Jenny Ward (text and toys).
